Authoritative Aftermath!

As we dive into scripture this week, let me tell you how caught off guard I was by this weeks revelation! As I write these blogs, I tend to write something that has a lot to do with what was taught at our Thursday Bible study, but this truth was too good to pass up. Most people tend to look at this section of Mark 6 and focus on how this chapter tries to compare the kingship of Jesus and Herod. We, however, have a whole new thing to think about!

Last week we looked in Mark 6:6-13 and talked about how there are 70 people in this story I hope to be! Mark and Luke give the information that Jesus sends out around 70 disciples to the surrounding Galilean area preach repentance, cast out demons, and to heal people in Jesus’ authority. The thought was that we have the opportunity to take that to that to the next level, by the power of the Holy Spirit, and to make an impact around us Daily!

We can make that impact, but check out the newest implications of the next verses!

“12 So they went out and preached that people should repent. 13 And they were driving out many demons, anointing many sick people with olive oil, and healing them.” Mark 6:12-13

These are the last verses we studied last week, but let’s keep reading!!

“14 King Herod heard of this, because Jesus’ name had become well known….” Mark 6:14a

How crazy is it that not only did these disciples get to see and do what Jesus promised, but it went a step further. What did King Herod hear of? Why was Jesus well known by Him? This is the verse that directly follows last week’s verse! This is so awesome!

As I started to think about this truth, it blows me away. Herod isn’t the Local Government. He’s the King of regions. He is in charge of the area of Galilee and other surrounding regions too! This King is hearing of Jesus’ teachings and finding Him to be a topic of conversation because these 70 faithful disciples went out and did what Jesus instructed! The disciples didn’t receive fame, but Jesus got the Glory!

My hope for this week is that we can see the greater potential of our humility to Christ! Where are the people willing to follow Jesus on a scale that the Governors, Senators, even a whole Nation hears of Jesus’ abilities? Who will be that person?

Are you someone that will listen to Jesus’ voice in your life in a way that people in public authority will discuss Jesus on a level to admit His authority is real?

I love you beloved! Please Share if this touched you!
