Now what I’m about to bring to light today could literally be considered a blog writers suicide. The point of writing this blog it to encourage and motivate readers to dive into God word in a new way, and to hopefully give you readers some tools, to not wait once a week , but to read the word every day. I’ve started to notice in my heart a trend. With my blog, I started to worry more about how many people were reading it, as much as/or if not more than, what was being shown. Further, I have talked with some of my readers during the week and have found there are many questions that I hoped my blog would have covered. For example questions like, “How you know the things you know?” or, “How can I get a similar dip into scripture like you do?” In saying these questions, please don’t think I’m placing myself at any high value or any greater spiritual journey than what you are able to experience. I’m right where you all are.
What I feel led to share with you today is something that is hard for my flesh to reveal to you. I like to feel as though I’m important, and feel as though I’m needed. That being said, I don’t want you to read this and pity me either. So before I go any further, let me answer some things and then show you what God has for us! 1) Yes, I have been going to school to study the bible. 2) My teachers have spent hours and I have spent thousands of dollars to learn the background stuff I know. However, all the stuff I’ve learned and kept, have not been all from school. Everything I know I feel that scripture brings to life, and all the other tools I’ve ever used are tools either your church owns and you could barrow, or every local library has them. You don’t have to pay anything to know what I know. In fact you don’t have to weed out all the lies to get to the truth like I mostly have to do. You want to know why? You have something that is living inside of you that can open scripture to you in a way I never will be able to.
“10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. 14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 CORINTHANS 2:10-16
Paul being led by the Holy Spirit is sharing here about how he is not sharing man’s word, rather he is sharing something that was revealed by the Holy Spirit. Look at the beauty of verse 11. We have the Holy Spirit that lives inside us! Moreover, that same Spirit knows the heart and mind of God and knows exactly what God’s intentions are in scripture. Think about it, we believe as Christians that the Spirit wrote the whole bible! So my question to God lately is, “God why are they asking me?” We need to remember that God does speak: through his word, through our friends, but more importantly in our alone time with him! I can promise you this, what I write in these blogs will only cover a glimpse of what God can show you in His word, through the Spirit.
Today is less about how many people read these blogs. Today is about understanding that whether this is your first time reading this, or you’ve read every single one, God is waiting to show us something special every single day. We just need a little reminder about where it’s coming from. Not from man, but from the Holy Spirit.
“11 Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” ACTS 17:11
It’s time were are more like Bereans and less like everybody else. If this is the last blog post you read by me, I’m okay with that, as long as you are pressing into the Spirit who opens all things. Moreover, if this is the last time you read my blogs period, I’m okay with that because I serve a God who is more satisfying than the feeling of getting the most blog views.
It’s time to press in Beloved!
This is awesome! Enjoyed reading your blog, and definitely inspired by it. You are an amazing young man and such an inspiration to my two sons. God definitely is using you, and your girlfriend, for these young people to walk down the right path in their lives.
ReplyDeleteNothing is more real than diving into the Word. Then, Spirit led blogs and group discussions and church talks etc, only strengthen what the Spirit had already revealed to you because you realize He has revealed it to others too, and that is such a beautiful thing. Thanks for your words Bry.
ReplyDeleteTruely spoken! Humility will win far greater respect and many more hearts for God than pride could ever count. Thanks for the scripture, I think I missed that one before.
