Have you ever have one of those awesome ideas come to your
mind, forget to write it down, and then lose the great idea? This blog post is
the product of one of those moments! My last post “Fake It To Make It…Or Not”
is something God gave me when I was studying the Scriptures trying to remember
this blog idea. God is good, with some of the things I’ve heard, He really
moved in that last post. So, let’s dive in to the book of 1 John again and
check out this idea!
Again, remember the idea of this book is assurance and to
exemplify what true fellowship with Jesus looks like. Written by the Apostle
John, who was a first hand witness of Christ’s ministry, and is being led by
the Holy Spirit. Look at 1 John 1:5-7:
“5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to
you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have
fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out
the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from
all sin.” 1 John 1:5-7
John starts off by letting us know something specific about
God Himself. GOD IS LIGHT. This can go so many ways, but want to focus on one
thought particularly. If God is light,
this means He is the source of all
light. It’s because of Him that we even know what light is, and He is the
beginning and end of all light! Now put on that thought process and look into
the verse even more. With our light glasses on, we can see that light also can
mean holiness. GOD IS HOLY, light is a representation of holiness all
throughout Scripture. That means He is the source of all holiness and is the
beginning and the end of all holiness. That’s crazy! It doesn’t end there.
In verses 6-7 we see two things. We can have fellowship with
God and we can walk in God’s light as well, both through Jesus of course. There
is a problem though. There are people, just as we saw last blog, who claim to
do both of the following things and really don’t live what they say. They claim
to walk in light and holiness but live in darkness and sin. They make Jesus out
to be a liar! Remember, we can’t walk in the light on our own! Jesus had to pay
our penalty and then send us His Holy Spirit and remove us from the equation! Some
people think they are the source of the light and holiness.
Let me put it this way. How many people have ever seen and
electric bug zapper? Like the one on the left there is a purple or
blue light that glows in the center of the contraption. The same electric
source that powers the light, then powers a metal cage that is spaced
relatively 3 to 4 inches from the light. This cage allows bugs to see the light
but get zapped by the electric current when they run into the cage, and the cage
material is practically see through, just thin pieces of metal.
Some people claim to be a Jesus Zapper! Instead of killing
things, the cage of the Holy Spirit wakes people up. Some people claim to be
this, but are never even really plugged in to the power source. God is the
source of all light and holiness in this dark world, and here these people are
saying they are plugged into Him yet are running around this world thinking
they are the source of the light. How foolish do they look? How smart does this
sound? How long will they last? My guess is, very soon the things that should
be attracted to them will never be properly be attracted to what they’re saying
if they think this way!
Lets look one step further, I feel like there are a lot of
people who “understand” that God is the source and the start of all light and
holiness, yet they are convinced after a particular track record that they are
the finisher of that light and holiness. Basically, there is a short in the
wire to their plug. God turned the light on in them and the current is flowing
to the cage, and as they attract and zap things to notice God, the short starts
to cause a mechanical function that doesn’t always allow them to be in the
light. It’s like saying, “currently our power source is not feeding us the
power, but it’s okay, I’m running on my AA Duracell battery, No worries.” WAKE
UP CHURCH!!! Call the electrician! Jesus came so when you admit there is a
problem, He’ll fix it! (v7 above)
“14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill
cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your
good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
The God-Head is the source of all light and holiness, from
beginning to end, through and through. News flash, you cannot properly emanate,
shine, or glow light unless you are plugged in to the power source! It doesn’t
work that way! God is longing for a generation that will submit to Him, get plugged
in to the source, and let Him do the rest! God we want to shine brighter than
any city, we want to be the lamp! If you are reading this, please weigh yourself
with this word!
Do you even care to be plugged in?
Are you saying your plugged in, but aren’t?
Do you have a short in your wire?
I love you beloved!

God continue to pour your Holy Spirit through every pen and key stroke for my brother. Love you man. -Isaiah
